The Engineering College Admission Test (ECAT) is a standardized examination administered by the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore. Since 1999, it has served as the mandatory entrance test for admission to undergraduate engineering programs in public and private engineering institutions across Punjab, Pakistan.

Test Structure and Subjects

ECAT is a multiple-choice question (MCQ) based exam comprising 100 questions divided into four sections:

  • Mathematics: 30 questions
  • Physics: 30 questions
  • Chemistry/Computer Science: 30 questions
  • English: 10 questions

Candidates have 90 minutes to complete the test.

Admission Requirements

To be eligible for ECAT, candidates must have completed their F.Sc. (Pre-Engineering) or an equivalent examination. The test is compulsory for admission to B.Sc. Engineering and B.Sc. Engineering Technology programs in Punjab.

Test Schedule and Registration

For the Fall 2025 admissions, UET Lahore has scheduled two ECAT sessions:

  • First Session: March 17–21, 2025
  • Second Session: June 2025

Candidates may appear in both sessions; the highest score will be considered for merit calculation. Registration requires payment of a Rs. 2,500 fee and submission of an online application by March 3, 2025.
